The Consultation

CHOOSING THE CORRECT KERAPOD FOR YOUR CLIENT

Establish client expectations for the smoothing service:

Does the client expect curl reduction, or are their expectations centered around having ‘straight hair’? It can be an ‘a-ha’ moment when the client uses the term ‘straight.’ This may indicate that they have had chemically straightened treatments in the past, suggesting they may not be seeking a smoothing service. Explain that the KeraPod Smoothing treatment will provide your client with ultimate manageability.

Manage expectations:

  • Highlight that smoothing reduces curl, eliminates frizz, controls difficult textures, and simplifies styling.

  • Emphasize how it facilitates achieving straight hair effortlessly through blow-drying and ironing.

What is the porosity levels of the hair (At the root area, mid-lengths and ends)?

Establishing the hair’s porosity will affect the temperature you set for your flat iron during the ironing section of the KeraPod service. Extreme porosity at the ends of the hair could result in performing fewer passes at a lower temperature on this delicate area of the client’s hair.

Consider previous color treatments:

Remember, if your client has had previous chemical treatments on their hair, you must consider this hair as porous. This will affect the temperature during the flat ironing section of the service.

Evaluate hair texture:

  • Assess whether the hair is fine, normal, or coarse.

  • Adjust product quantity and development time based on texture.

Assess time commitment:

Smoothing services cannot be rushed. A perfect application, fine sections, and an immaculate blow-dry are required to achieve smoothness. Fine, see-through sections are needed when blow-drying and ironing the hair to ensure the bonds link together to hold the hair in its new shape. Anything less will cause a result that is less than optimum.
